A long time ago...
...before the settlers came to Australia, there were many of these great cats. They kept the food chain in balance, and prevented over eating in other carnivorous creatures. They didn't need to hide, they were found all over the land of Oz and feared nothing. Peaceful, there were many clans, each ruled by a Queen. Their heirachy was of females, everyone was happy. The next Queen, would be that of the pre-deccesser's chosen kit of her litter, most commonly the youngest. But when the great ships arrived with their billowing sails and chained captives, the greats cats fled to the most inner point of the land they called home. But over the years, great plumes of smoke and dust have been seen rising from the coast. The population of man was rising, and their needs increasing. Expanding outwards, the 'two-legs' were ripping up grassy plains where birds like Corellas and Black Cockatoos once fed, turning those peaceful meadows into miles of dirt. The humans called this agriculture. They brought great, mooing beasts and raised them only for the point of making them fat and then killing them. They rode tall, slender creatures, cropped mane and long tail. Tacked up, they had a head piece in which the humans controlled them, and leather on their back in which the humans sat on. They let out great whinnying sounds and ran faster than the cats, driving them away from the great, lumbering beasts which they called 'cows'. When driven back, the cats would no longer try and get into that pasture, they would try others in hope of bringing down a beast together. With all of the forests and plains being ripped up for housing and agriculture for the two-legs, the larger prey of the cats were being eradicated and caged up in places which the humans call 'zoos'. In doing this, many of the great birds (birds that form alliances with Bottlebrush, such as Palm Cockatoos, Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos and Red Tailed Black Cockatoos) have been driven to the brink of extinction. Bottlebrush cats spread the word amongst the great birds species that they are safe with them, and the birds flock from everywhere to the Bottlebrush haven. Now, a small portion of untouched and unspoiled land, is the Bottlebrush Wild Cat home. They are on the brink, as are many of the birds that inhabit their haven, but they refuse to just sit around and wait for their end. They hunt daily, and go out in groups never less than 5. By doing these minor things, they are hoping to tip the scales, and be as abundant as they were in the early days.
These mysterious cats of Australia are silent now, they slip through the landscape without ushering so much as a rustle of leaves. They melt away into the eucalypt forests and semi-rainforests that they call home. Bottlebrush Wild Cats live in a place unspoiled by man, they live in peace and harmony, protecting one another when needed. They're at one with the creatures around them and will never willingly kill another of their kind. Although these cats seem abundunt in their secret place, those that are in that place are the only Bottlebrush cats on earth. With their small population, if man were to come across them, there would be disaster. Their home would be littered with the dead bodies of their kind, mourning would be so great they would cease to breed. Slowly but surely, they would begin to die out. Help us bring back their species, help us help them reclaim their rightful place in the Southern Land. But be warned, if they were to attack a human, word would spread like a forest fire and humans would be out to eradicate these great cats of the South. Will you help these great cats of Oz? That choice is yours alone..
